If you only take two vacations in your life ; visit Kyoto twice

Kyoto 0113

Kyoto (京都) is the ancient capital of Japan.  In case you’re wondering, the first half of the name, “Kyo” (京) means capital.  It’s the same particle as the second half of Tokyo (東京), and the “Jing” in Beijing (北京).

For various reasons, Kyoto was spared from bombing in WW2.  Allegedly because it was too beautiful to bomb, but more likely because it had no real military targets as the other more industrial parts of Japan did.  You will find it the most historic and beautiful city in Japan.

Kyoto is located in the Kansai Region of Japan.  It’s next to Osaka (大阪), and effectively they share the same international airport (KIX).

You need to visit Kyoto twice.   Firstly, In Autumn/Fall for the “red leaves”, then in Spring for the Blossoms.

Rather than describe anymore, here are the pictures that tell the story –
